In 1965, the Holbrook-Palmer Park Foundation was formed to raise funds for capital improvements at the Park. The Foundation is a 501(C)3 charitable organization so all donations are tax deductable.
In 1968 the women of Atherton formed The Atherton Dames to organize community activities and assist the Foundation Board with fundraising.
Below is a sample of past park improvements funded by the Atherton Dames:
- Renovation of the Main Residence for public use
- Update of landscaping, pathways, and parking areas
- New gates at Park entrances
- Six tennis courts with backboard
- Restoration of the Water Tower
- Construction of the Pavilion
- Landscaping of the North Meadow
- Restoration and opening of the Carriage House
- Restoration and installation of the white fountain
- Construction of and landscaping for the William Conwell Walking Footbridge, providing a pedestrian entrance to the Park
- Creation and landscaping of the Water Tower Garden
